How giving works, what your donation funds, and how to bring a team or volunteer with Hearts 4Kids.
Hearts 4Kids Inc is a 501(c)(3) public charity registered in the United States (EIN 47-4834211), based in La Feria, Texas. Founded in 2014, we serve children and families in the colonias of the Rio Grande Valley through a network of partner churches, local volunteers and short-term mission teams.
Donations fund food distribution through colonia churches, materials for home construction and repair, community health screens and referrals, school supplies and shoes for children, and the ESL and vocational classes hosted at our partner community centers.
Yes. Hearts 4Kids Inc is a 501(c)(3) public charity, so gifts from U.S. donors are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. You will receive an emailed receipt for online gifts, and we send receipts for checks when you include your email address.
Choose the monthly option in the giving form on our Donate page. Monthly gifts are the most useful kind of support because they let us plan meals, medical care and school help ahead of time instead of reacting month to month.
Churches, youth groups, school and medical teams typically serve Monday to Friday. We scope the projects with local pastors, buy materials in the Valley and set the schedule before you arrive, so your team starts work the first morning. Contact us for available dates and a cost estimate.
Yes. Note the program you want to support — food, medical care, education or the center's operations — in the giving form or in an email to us, and we will direct it accordingly.
Yes. Individuals, professionals such as nurses and teachers, and church or school teams all serve with us, and some volunteers help remotely with translation, design and fundraising. Start on our Volunteer page and tell us your skills and availability.
Yes — shoes, backpacks, school supplies, blankets and pantry staples are all used. Shipping bulky goods is often more expensive than buying them here, so cash gifts usually stretch further, but email us first and we will tell you exactly what is needed and where to send it.
